That Little Sting One Feels

This was going to be my original entry before I heard about Star Wars in 3D. I still cringe of the thought, but I will get through this without it polluting this entry too much.

I am a proud owner of a Nintendo Wii (Yes, I dare to admit it AND have pride in it.). Although a lot of reviewers keep pointing out the sometimes lack of precision in the Wii Remote, bad graphics and childish games. I think there are a lot of great games to the Wii. The Resident Evil Archives and Chronicles, House of the Dead Overkill, MadWorld, Manhunt 2, The Godfather - Blackhand Edition, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. and as you see I can go on and on. I could probably list almost every dang game I own, except for Eledees a.k.a. Elebits and GT Sport something.. I don't even care enough to remember the title of it.

People might say that I jumped the gun when I bought the Wii and didn't wait for the PS3 or XBox 360, but I actually always wanted the Wii. You could call me a semi Nintendo fanboy, but I really don't see myself as one.

I've had great enjoyment out of my one console, and I never thought much of the Wii's graphical inferiorities versus the PS3's, not even when my friends bought it. I always thought they were more or less equal, even though the PS3 was slightly more powerful.

But the turning point became ONE game. (Which will be weird, since I just had an entry about Star Wars in 3D.)When I bought Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, it unleashed several hours of great enjoyment! Me and my cousin sat for several hours straight and played the hell out of it, because it was such a great game. And we even enjoyed the story, even if a lot of reviewers said that it was weak, I always felt it wasn't. When my friend bought it for the PS3, I thought nothing of it. Until I saw it.. The difference in surroundings, the details in the surroundings, the facial details that weren't present in the Wii version, made me realize that I was wrong in my assumption that they are equal. Then the titles started rolling in.. Dragon Age: Origins, Red Dead Redemption and others that I just can't remember. And coming soon is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I don't think we are going to see equal titles to the Wii ever, when you look at their track record. Super Mario Galaxy, Wario Shake Dimension and other cute titles. That's when the I feel it.. The Sting.. Is it jealousy? Am I envious of the other consoles? But.. Aren't I a Nintendo Fan boy? Shouldn't I have unconditional love for the Wii? Forget that! The Wii is great in its way, but I gotta admit that the PS3 is a more powerful machine that any gamer, even Nintendo fanboys, should consider buying. There is a world beyond Zelda, Mario and Metroid.

Do you agree, or do you disagree? Do you own a Wii and hate it? Do you own a Wii and love it? And why should others love it?

  1. Own a Wii and love it, but most my attention goes to my PS3. Being it has RDR and FIFA 11.

  2. I loved the NES and SNES. I would gladly play those timeless classics again and again.
The N64 had great games, no doubt. But by that time I had a hot flirt with the Sony Playstation, and was never to consider buying another console ever again.
So wii was totally out of the question.

Also, being a wii- owner you don't have a wide choice of DLCs really... And that's actually a very important issue in these days of gaming.

I'm happy to own a PS3, and you're welcome to try it out or watch anytime. Just don't ask me to play Castlevania.

  4. I'm ofcourse talking about Lords Of Shadow to the PS3. I haven't played the full game yet but I have the demo. After playing it 3-4 times I decided it wasn't worth for me to buy it.

It just didn't have enough Castlevania in it.
I don't know if you ever tried it, though. Maybe you'll like it better than me.
